Auto Transport Quote Services is known for its safe, reliable and affordable hauling services, but having our customers safe at all times is out number one priority. That being said, we want our customers to know about a recall that Toyota, Honda and Jeep have made public about defective airbags. The United States Auto Safety Agency announced an urgent recall of 2.1 million vehicles from auto makers Toyota, Honda and Jeep for defective air bags that could deploy accidentally. This has been an problem recently and there was a recall already, but the issue wasn’t fixed and it left owners at risk of injury. This new recall affects even the people that already replaced their “defective” airbags.
The issue comes from a faulty electronic controller that was made by TRW. The controller can set the airbag off randomly and without an accident. The first recall just added extra shielding to help make the incidents safer for the drivers. This new recall requires the entire TRW controller to be replaced. The time frame estimated for all of these vehicles to be fixed is the end of 2015.
The vehicles that are being recalled are:
2002-03 Jeep Liberty
2002-04 Jeep Grand Cherokee
2003-04 Dodge Viper
2003-2004 Honda Odyssey
2003 Acura MDX
2003-2004 Pontiac Vibe
2003-2004 Toyota Corolla
2003-2004 Toyota Matrix
2003-2004 Toyota Avalon
Imagine driving down the highway, heading to work, and your airbag goes off. That is a perfect scenario for a bad accident with injuries or even death to occur. That has happened to numerous people already. There has been five deaths recorded and over 60 injuries that stem from this recall.
Lastly, if you are looking to purchase any of these models at a used car lot, make sure that the recall has already been done. If it has not been confirmed please go directly to the dealership and have it done immediately. Having yourself and your family safe is the first priority.
