The North American International Auto Show has had tons of news releases from nearly every auto company in the industry and Honda was no exception. Rather then have a supercar or throw out a new line of diesel engines Honda has given people a new engine that will start going into vehicles by the end of this year. It is a new VTEC turbocharged four-cyclinder engine. The Civic Type R that is currently being sold in Europe has a turbo engine that gets 276 hp, so everyone is expecting, at least, these types of numbers.
What makes this unveiling most intriguing is the fact Honda was mum about most of its specs and what vehicles the engine was being made for. That just gets people to start talking, wondering and imagining. Is this engine made for a new Civic, Accord or CR-V? No one, but Honda knows and they are keeping their lips zipped until a later date.
Another big news announcement from Honda was that they are creating two new models that will be charged from a wall socket at home. One will be a plug-in hybrid (similar to the Chevy Volt) and the other will be a pure electric vehicle. Honda was, yet again, mum about the details except that they will be introduced by 2018. In the car world that is right around the corner.
