Google, the powerhouse giant in every technology, has revealed it’s first self-driving car. The first prototype was created to test out the tech needed to create such a vehicle and what tweaks it needed. What happens with any prototype is that it needs to be refined many times over to add parts, fix bugs, add new technology, etc.. The Google car was not the exception to these rules. The first prototype didn’t even have a steering wheel (California ordered Google to add a steering wheel before it could be tested on their roads).
Now we can say that Google has revealed a fully working prototype. This prototype has wheels, brakes, headlights, scanners, and much more. The push for Google is to make these types of vehicles a reality and not just a thought.
Being in the auto transport industry, it would be amazing to have self-driven auto haulers delivering vehicles to customers across the United States and even around the world. An LED screen on the hauler for quick checkout and to fill out the bill of lading. The future in the auto industry reflects on the future of the auto transport industry. Some customers do not like the actual truck driver (maybe rude or dirty or late delivering) and with a self-driving hauler on the road we could eliminate this flaw.
Google, with their first working prototype is a great step forward to self-driving cars. The idea will only grow from here and soon enough it will be a reality to purchase a vehicle with this technology in it. Only time will tell how long it will be before a vehicle like this can go to production, but each step forward is a step worth checking out.
