When you think of a budget friendly, fast car the Ford Focus is probably not what immediately comes to mind, at least not yet. Cars such as the Honda Civic, Mitsubishi Lancer, or even car from other companies will pop into your head first. Heck, we have transported hundreds of different car models from one state to another and we wouldn’t have thought of the Ford Focus first. Ford is trying to change that.
Ford unveiled the 2016 Ford Focus RS which will 345 horsepower coming from a 2.3 liter four-cyclider EcoBoost engine with a turbocharger. It will also have 324 pounds of torque as well. This is basically the same engine found in the Ford Mustang EcoBoost. The difference is that the Ford Focus engine features a new low-inertia turbocharger that has a greater airflow. That together can get the higher horsepower (Mustang had 310 HP and the Focus has 345 HP). It is impressive.
Having a Ford Focus of this caliber is class breaking. Nothing else in it’s class will have the horsepower and technology behind it. It is a clear winner in its class. Ford has unveiled a new Ford GT Supercar, new F-150 Raptor, new Mustang Shelby GT350 and GT350R this year and there was just something missing in a smaller price range for Ford. The Focus fits right in and is a member of the family instantly.
The Ford Focus has had it’s ups and downs in the market since its introduction some 15 years ago or so. Some models sold better than others. Some models had it problems more than others. Yet even after the entire auto market crashed 8 years ago Ford still kept the Focus around because it had bright ideas for it and with the new Focus RS we might all be glad they did keep it around. We are looking to transport one of these, so if you do end up buying up in the near future give us a ring.
