Lexus created this hoverboard as a part of the SLIDE ad campaign that created. The overboard uses various magnets and liquid nitrogen-cooled superconductors to make the hoverboard levitate. It is a really cool concept to be able to levitate off the ground and “skate” around. It is something that only Back to the Future fans could have predicted would come true eventually.
The look of the hoverboard is very classy and luxurious. It is made of bamboo, carbon fiber, and various plastics. It is ascetically pleasing to say the least. Leave it to Lexus to also incorporate their spindle grille and their Lexus logo into the design of the hoverboard. Heck, I would do the same thing if I owned a company like that.
The video at the top of the page features pro skateboarder Ross McGouran getting onto the board. Although, we do not see him physically ride it he narrates the video and talks about how he feels like he is starting over on this machine. Seems legit because their would be no friction to deal with like a regular skateboard so doing tricks and stunts would be much different.
I would love to see Lexus take this and mass market it. Ford is producing bicycles, why not Lexus producing a hoverboard? We do not have the answer if Lexus will make these hoverboards for sale purposes, but it surely is a really cool advertising trick so far. Only time will tell to see what Lexus actually does with it.
