In today’s world people are always looking for a good deal. There are quality companies that are thriving because they give good deals such as TJ Maxx, Marshall’s, Home Goods and other sites that give discounts like RetailMeNot and Ebates. In the transport industry, auto or freight, it doesn’t pay to be cheap. Having a car transported for cheap is something that rarely happens. The reason for this is because a customer is always going to be talking to broker companies. All the brokers are going to do is post your vehicle on a website called Central Dispatch and wait for a reliable auto hauler to call them.
The biggest problem is that these broker companies will do and say anything to get your business, even if it is deceitful. These companies will swear that they are the hauling company themselves or that the price is guaranteed, or that the deposit they give is to reserve a spot on the truck. All of that is just bogus.
What customers need to do is NOT pick the cheapest quotes. Those are the companies that will want to have you sign a contract and take their deposit (which is their fee to do the work in finding you a hauler). Then usually a day or two before you NEED your vehicle moved they raise the price on you because they quoted you too low. They will not refund your deposit back and you’ll have to fight with the bank to get it back if you dispute the charge. Then you have to start all over in finding another company to have it transport. Usually, the customer just pays the higher rate and is upset over the fact that they were burned.
For customers that do read this, don’t say we didn’t warn you. An easy way to escape this pitfall is to get about 3-5 different quotes from companies. Even use a lead provider that will send you a few companies that they trust. Throw the lowest quote away instantly because we already know it is going to be a horrible scenario in the end. Compare the other quotes and look up each company online to get reviews and ratings on them. Pick two that you really like and call the one you like the most first. See if they answer the phone. If so, ask them a few questions and see if you feel they are g=being genuine or just giving you a load of crap. If they are genuine then that is the company to choose. Don’t pick the company that is going to tell you what you want to hear Pick the company that will be honest with you. It makes for better business.
It is honestly that simple. If you’re cheap, you’ll end up getting screwed in the end and probably paying more once the vehicle is delivered anyway. So in other words, in the auto transport industry don’t be cheap!
