The auto transport service industry is a great industry for people who want to start up their own company, make money quickly once open, and are able to grow at the speed they desire. If you are looking to open up your own auto transport brokerage company, here is the way to do so.
Get a Business Name: Getting your business name is one of the first things a person should do. Create something that is catchy or that relates to the business.
Get a Web Domain: Getting a web domain should be the second thing to get and should go hand in hand with finding a business name. Before nailing down the business name check out on GoDaddy is the domain is available.
Get a Business License: Go to your State Business Website and file for a business. In Florida the website is www.sunbiz.org. You can file as a DBA, Partnership if you have a partner that wants to open with you, LLC or a full fledge Corporation. Each option have their own pluses and minuses.
Register with the FMCSA: The next step after you have a business setup, you need to go to the FMCSA and get an MC number for your broker authority. This is the government registration that allows you to work as a broker in the auto transport industry.
Get a Surety Bond: Once you have the registry completed to become a broker for the auto transport industry you will need a Surety Bond. You can get a bond from Pacific Financial or MANY other companies that offer this bond. Pacific Financial is the largest company to do these bonds, but they are also the most expensive.
Get jTracker and Central Dispatch: Once you have the Bond and you are fully completed with the FMCSA (it can take 3 weeks to get full authority) sign up for jTracker and Central Dispatch. The software jTracker as like an account manager for your business to keep your customers in order.
